Photography
Photography has been a part of my life long before jewelry. I am especially fascinated about self-portraits and images that tell stories. I have studied empowering photography with Miina Savolainen, the creator of the method. I am deeply moved and convinced by how much self-portraiture can help heal what has been broken, process grief or joy, life, ourselves, and our stories. It allows us to be seen and to develop a gentler gaze toward ourselves.

Photography is also fascinating in the sense that each of us perceives the same image differently, giving it unique meanings based on our own backgrounds and life situations—just like with any form of art.

My kind of visual world in photography is melancholic, minimalist aesthetic, like the world of Aki Kaurismäki—sprinkled with a touch of strangeness.

An empowering self-portrait is a versatile tool for making yourself and your feelings visible and working on them.
It can be simplest a self-portrait that you look at with acceptance, more lovingly or a deeper and more time-consuming process of dealing with something broken, or anything in between.
